In recent years, the principles of branding have been energetically applied to the travel and tourism industry throughout the world. Improving the 'brand' has become synonymous with improving the visitor experience, which of course is at the core all tourism development plans.
To keep pace with our competitors and to update our own image, Cumbria Tourism sought opinion from a range of organisations and individuals. This research indicated that the image of Cumbria Tourist Board was old fashioned, institutional and no longer appropriate in today's fiercely competitive market place.
Cumbria Tourism is the result of our efforts to refresh our image and reputation, and to modernise the way in which we present ourselves to our customers and partners.
Identity Guidelines have been created to ensure that Cumbria Tourism is represented consistently within all levels of communication. The identity will raise the profile of Cumbria Tourism and will communicate the organisation's central and vitally important role in developing a world class visitor experience in Cumbria.
The message is clear, Cumbria Tourism is at the heart of our visitor economy and will be the passionate voice of tourism representing businesses, visitors and our partner organisations.
The Cumbria Tourism Identity is a corporate-facing device which should not be confused with Cumbria-The Lake District consumer branding.
