Outdoor Activity Provider Accreditation Scheme
As part of Cumbria Tourism's on going work to promote and develop the Outdoor Activity sector within the county, CT has created a local accreditation scheme, ROAM (Registered Outdoor Activity Member), for Outdoor Activity providers, which will signpost consumers to those operators that provide safe and quality activities.
Outdoor Activity providers are legally required to hold an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) accreditation if they operate with under 18's. It is estimated that 50%+ of the county's Outdoor Activity providers currently do not hold an AALA license. By introducing a countywide activity accreditation scheme, it is hoped that those local businesses not AALA licensed, will participate in the scheme and thus contribute to raising quality levels and consumer confidence for this sector.
So if you're an Outdoor Activity provider, what's in it for you? A ROAM assessment will give you
-
A professional assessment of quality and safety
-
An accreditation scheme that is available for all outdoor adventure activities, regardless of the age of your clients and which activities you provide
-
A two-year accreditation period, at a subsidised rate for Cumbria Tourism members of £75 + VAT
-
Participation in CT's integrated marketing activity to promote the county's Outdoor Activity sector – web, print, shows, e-newsletters, direct mail, PR and more
-
The opportunity to improve your business with sound practical advice
