The Cumbria Tourism Awards ceremony took place on 13th May 2008 at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal. 

There were 19 categories in total, recognising excellence both in business and in people.  Six of the awards were dedicated to employees within tourism businesses and these winning individuals each received a cheque for £200 and an engraved award, specially created by Jonathan Stamper from High Head Sculpture Valley.  The business award winners each received a bespoke slate plaque designed by Honister Slate Mine.
