The AIM Cumbria Application Process
How to apply
1. Initial application
To begin your AIM Cumbria application you will need to download and complete the following application forms:
10 Point Code of Practice
Checklist for Legal Compliance
Venue Facilities Grading
Website Details and Additional Contacts
The forms should be completed electronically, saved to your computer and then emailed to Paula Scott at pscott@cumbriatourism.org
2. Assessor appointment
You will be contacted by one of our AIM Cumbria assessors who will make a mutually convenient appointment to view your meeting rooms and evidence portfolio (see below).
3. Evidence your assessor will need to see
At the visit, your assessor will need to check your documentation as detailed in the Checklist for Legal Compliance and 10 Point Code of Practice. Please have evidence ready for your assessor your view or verify at their visit. (Copies of documents are acceptable.)
4. Assessor visit
When the assessor visits your venue they will be working against the set criteria on the Venue Facilities Grading form. Your assessor will need to spend some time discussing the venue and evidence with you, and have a guided walk round, but they will complete some of the assessment alone. They will also need to discuss and view how you are complying with the 10 Point Code of Practice and the Checklist for Legal Compliance.
5. Awarding a pass or fail
Following your assessment, Cumbria Tourism will forward your forms and the assessor's notes to the Meetings Industry Association (MIA). The MIA own and protect the standard and will make the final decision on whether you will be awarded the AIM Cumbria accreditation.
Cumbria Tourism will then send you any relevant feedback and, if necessary, an action plan for any suggested improvements.
6. AIM Cumbria Accreditation
If you have been successful in achieving the AIM Cumbria accreditation, you will receive a certificate and logo from the MIA and your venue will be added to www.aimaccredited.co.uk. Cumbria Tourism will issue your AIM Cumbria plaque.
7. Renewals
Cumbria Tourism will contact you in a year's time to complete your renewal application and assessment.
