The winners of the 2009 Cumbria Tourism Awards were revealed at a special ceremony in Kendal on Wednesday 6th May.
Hundreds of tourism professionals and businesses from around the county gathered at the Castle Green Hotel where the evening began with a drinks reception sponsored by Jennings Cumberland Traditional Ale. Host for the evening was comedian, actor and broadcaster Ted Robbins who announced the winners and kept everyone thoroughly entertained with a constant stream of jokes and anecdotes.
Nineteen prizes were awarded on the night, which recognised excellence both in business and in people including the final award for the Large Hotel of the Year being presented to the host venue, the Castle Green Hotel.
Each category winner received a certificate and specially designed award, individually handcrafted by Jonathan Stamper at High Head Sculpture Valley.
