Occupancy Survey - Self Catering
This survey includes all types of property let for self catering holiday accommodation - houses, cottages, flats, chalets, lodges and static caravans. Touring caravan and camping pitches are also covered, but in a slightly different way.How does it work?
To date, more than 180 operators have signed up to participate in the survey, covering more than 370 self catered properties throughout the county. However, we are always on the lookout for new recruits to increase our sample and improve the reliability of the data we collect. Participants complete an initial profile form, and then a simple data form each month, showing units occupied. This data is then analysed by Cumbria Tourism, to produce regional occupancy rates, which can be assessed by property type, size, or location. All information supplied is treated in the strictest confidence. Occupancy data is never published alongside individual business names. Data forms are mailed out each month with postage paid envelopes for easy return.

What are the benefits?
As a participant you will receive calculations of your own occupancy rates, alongside regional results for comparison – this can be useful data for benchmarking, for business planning, when applying for finance, or if the business is sold on. Participants also receive a free annual report (normal retail value £25.00).
What does it cost?
Nothing - this is effectively a free benchmarking service for your business.
