Cumbria Tourism offers a number of domestic marketing opportunities. The Lake District, Cumbria Holiday Guide

This is a big guide with a big distribution and is big business for those advertising in it. The Lake District, Cumbria Holiday Guide is the county's flagship publication with over 60 pages of editorial and almost 600 advertisers, reaching up to 250,000 potential visitors through a vibrant and colourful campaign. It is distributed through a highly targeted national media campaign and to Tourist Information Centres around the UK and is supported by PR activity. 1 in 4 people who requested the 2007 Holiday Guide went on to visit Cumbria - The Lake District. Over half of these visitors used the Holiday Guide to plan their days out. More Information

Caravan, Camping & Holiday Homes Guide

 

Cumbria Tourism produces 20,000 A5 guides solely for the camping, caravan and holiday homes market. It is distributed via the national TIC network, specialist retail outlets and to a segmented database of caravan and campsite users. In 2008, with support from the BH&HPA the guide introduced a sales section – allowing members to advertise holiday homes for sale.

Best of Lakeland

Best of Lakeland is an attractions only leaflet with a distribution of 420,000, including 55,000 in Spanish, German, French, Chinese and Japanese. This publication is distributed through TICs, CRM communications and key outlets in Cumbria, North Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Events

Cumbria Tourism continues to promote the county's best events through golakes.co.uk, PR and CRM activity throughout the year. For 2009, Cumbria Tourism is working in partnership with LDNPA to jointly produce an events booklet that will list events in the county and reach 400,000 consumers and is supported by free listings on golakes.co.uk.

 

Event organisers can list their events FREE OF CHARGE on the DMS which will feed into Golakes and regional Tourist Information Centres.

Culture

A dedicated project to promote Cumbria as a cultural destination to new and existing markets, with a full time member of staff working on the project. The campaign works through a variety of web, e-marketing and print channels with a focus on attracting arts attenders to the region.

 

Highlights

 

  • In April 2008 a booklet 'Cumbria-Crucible of Creativity', highlighting Cumbria as a cultural destination was distributed through 560,000 copies of The Guardian
  • National culture PR specialist agency Colman Getty are working on the campaign with a target to generate press coverage to the value of £1m advertising equivalent around key events and messages
  • A targeted campaign to package the Visual Arts offer was delivered in Autumn 2008
  • A Culture Guide with up to date information and listings is planned for late 2008/early 2009
  • Culture specific e-newsletters to Cumbria Tourism data, as well as specialist arts attendee data.
  • Thomas West viewing stations - the development of a significant new arts project is being planned.
  • Cultural Olympiad - Cumbria Tourism will deliver a tourism specific marketing campaign around Lakes Alive, a significant new performance and arts events programme for Cumbria.

E-newsletters are a cost-effective and speedy way to communicate with potential visitors. Our e-newsletters give you the flexibility to advertise your special offers to our database of 80,000 contacts every month. So whether you want to promote your hot summer deals or cosy winter breaks you can opt in at any time of the year and advertise your latest special offers. Marketing Opportunities with VisitBritain

The national tourism body, VisitBritain, has a remit to grow the value of the domestic market by encouraging British residents to take additional and/or longer breaks in England.

Throughout the year VisitBritain offers a broad range of VisitEngland marketing opportunities suited to all budgets. Cumbria Tourism works in close partnership with VisitBritain and buys into a range of campaigns to promote Cumbria-The Lake District.
