The importance of video on websites is really beginning to become apparent with Jupiter Research finding that the percentage of UK users watching video online grew from 8% in 2006 to 29% in 2007. This increase creates a challenge for CT to engage consumers with relevant and inspiring video of Cumbria and its tourism product.

CT are giving providers a unique opportunity to showcase their business using video footage on their web entry. For those who have selected an advertising option that includes a video clip, this page provides important information and outlines the terms and conditions of this offer.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to showcase your business and enhance your entry on Golakes.

What is included?

The following aspects of video creation are included :

• The production and edit of a quality 30 second web enabled video by Red Onion to be hosted on golakes.co.uk.
• Included in this basic fee you receive one filming visit, edit and one opportunity to carry out minor edits at the proofing stage.  Additional elements will incur a charge.
• Once complete, videos are also available for members to use on their own website.
• 30 seconds is a fairly short, yet effective, length of time and Cumbria Tourism advises businesses to carefully select the content for which they would like to see featured in the video.
• Production includes one filming visit followed by an editing session.
• Videos will be creatively directed by Red Onion following the input from the provider through the capture brief ,which should be completed and agreed before filming starts. Members will have input into the content of the video however Red Onion may influence this at the request of CT.
• Videos produced will follow style guidelines and incorporate CT's brand and website details.
• To keep costs down, accompanying music will be copyright free. Additional music is available at an additional cost (proof of license cover is required). A selection of options will be emailed through by Red Onion and members are required to approve the music prior to production.

Timescales

Cumbria Tourism have agreed with Red Onion for a one month turn around time of receieving the capture brief. However, this will be dependent on weather restrictions and access to the property.

Formats

• In order for CT to host the video on golakes.co.uk Cumbria Tourism are required to have the film compressed to a much smaller size from Avi to a swf flash file. This is the most readily available format for consumers to use via most different internet platforms and although the video quality is reduced - optimum viewing will be achieved.
• The 30 second film will be provided to the member as a swf file with the following dimensions: 320mm x 180mm (ratio 16:9).  Alternative sizes and formats are available upon request.  Additional charges apply.
• Members are entitled to the rushes from the video shoot upon request.

Members requirements

• The provider is expected to have the property ready for filming at the agreed time and date and be on hand during the filming. Multiple visits will incur additional costs - payable by the member.
• An accurate capture brief will need to be written covering exactly what needs to be filmed and any specific requests for content. This will be authorised by CT prior to filming taking place.
• Upon receipt of the brief CT will arrange for the filming to go ahead and Red Onion will be in touch to make an appointment.
• Major re-edits will inclur an additional charge as listed below.
• Additional amends to the brief after an edit has been made are available at an additional cost.
• The video should represent an accurate and true reflection of the location eg views of lakes that cannot be seen from the property will not be acceptable.

Additional Information

• Copyright will be retained by Cumbria Tourism and the member.
• CT may use the footage for other video projects and marketing and promotial activity in the future.
• CT may allow partners including VisitEngland and VisitBritain to use the footage for promotional activity.
• Videos will feature the Lake District and Cumbria consumer branding and website details at the end of each film along with a logo from the business if applicable.
• Inclement weather may affect filming.
• Cumbria Tourism reserves the right to reject any work submitted that is not to the required standard
• Golakes.co.uk will feature at the end of each video.
• All video extensions, re-edits and paid for additional features should be agreed before the filming takes place.

Do you already have a promotional video?

If you already have a promotional video created, we may be able to add it to your Golakes advert for only £50 + VAT

Terms and conditions

• Advertisers must have at least a Enhanced level Golakes entry.
• Cumbria Tourism must approve the quality and content of the video prior to acceptance.
• The video must be provided as an swf file and at the required dimensions for Golakes. 320mm x 180mm (ratio 16:9)
• Videos can not be longer than 3 minutes unless agreed in advance with Cumbria Tourism.
