Lake District visitor numbers to fall in 2011, tourism leader to warn

Tourism businesses in the Lake District and Cumbria should prepare to lose visitors to Scotland, Ireland and Wales next season. That is the warning of the county's tourism chief who will address an audience of tourism professionals at a major meeting at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal on Wednesday 8th (2pm start.)
Great North Swim, Windermere - Postponed

Ian Stephens, Chief Executive at Cumbria Tourism, said: "We are obviously hugely disappointed that the Great North Swim has had to be postponed, however the safety of all competitors has to come first and the organisers have reassured us of this."
