The partnership between Lloyd Motor Group and Cumbria Tourism continues to grow following the collection of their latest demo BMW 225e Active Tourer plug-in Hybrid from Lloyd South Lakes BMW.
As part of a long-term partnership between regional automotive retailer Lloyd Motor Group and Cumbria Tourism, the official destination management organisation for Cumbria, the businesses have been working together to promote the adoption of more eco-friendly modes of transport in the county.
Following a successful seven-month period with the plug-in hybrid Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge from Lloyd South Lakes Volvo, Cumbria Tourism has collected a BMW 225e Active Tourer from Lloyd South Lakes BMW, with aims to showcase the different options available in the plug-in hybrid market.
Gill Haigh, Managing Director of Cumbria Tourism comments: “A big thank you to our Strategic Partner Lloyd Motor Group for their ongoing support. This will be the third car now as a result of the partnership, and we’ve had the pleasure of demonstrating the benefits of both fully electric and plug-hybrid vehicles from various brands that Lloyd Motor Group represent.
We will be out around the county and beyond in the coming months and are looking forward to getting to grips with BMW’s latest plug-in hybrid offering. From attending country shows, meeting with businesses and much more, we will be documenting our progress with the car along the way.”
Craig Kirkpatrick, Head of Marketing at Lloyd Motor Group, adds: “We are delighted to support the ongoing partnership with Cumbria Tourism and are looking forward to hearing how the CT team gets on with the 225e from Lloyd South Lakes BMW.”
Cumbria Tourism is actively taking measures to reduce its carbon footprint and has commissioned two electric charging stations at their Staveley headquarters in addition to plans for solar installation for the premises itself, helping Cumbria Tourism to become more self-sufficient. Looking ahead to the near future, Cumbria Tourism will be switching to a fully electric Lloyd Motor Group vehicle following the installation of the charging points.
Cumbria Tourism have also been working with the EV Charging Infrastructure Group to help develop a joined-up strategy for EV charging roll out across Cumbria. The group includes representatives from Electricity Northwest Limited, the local authorities and other key stakeholders.
