Lakeland Radio is the Lake District’s leading local radio station launched in 2001 to cover the South Lakes area. In 2013 the station added a third transmitter and now reaches as far North as Keswick.
We are proud of the loyal local listeners and tourists who tune in regularly to enjoy our broad mix of popular music from the 1960’s right through to the current releases. We are also the first choice for local news, weather and travel information.
Official independent figures show an impressive 38% of local residents tuning in to Lakeland Radio every week (source RAJAR, quarter three). Recent research carried out by Cumbria Tourism tells us a staggering 3.3 million tourists also tune in at some point during their stay in Cumbria!
Lakeland Radio has a wide mix of programming, from its flagship “Yakkers on Breakfast” to specialist shows such as Country, at the weekend. Our established team of presenters often enjoy input from listeners, resulting in the station’s unique local feel.
We can often be seen out and about with our green gazebo, broadcasting live from local events and festivals across the Lake District, such as the Westmorland County Show, Keswick Mountain Festival, and more recently Kendal Torchlight Carnival.
Lakeland Radio is a commercial station and our dedicated sales team are committed to providing quality bespoke advertising slots for local businesses.
