Promoting the Cumbrian Coastal Route (CCR 200)
A special 200-mile route exploring Cumbria’s coast, known as the Cumbrian Coastal Route, or ‘CCR 200’, has been extended and rebranded to inspire more people to explore some of the region’s hidden gems.
That includes two additional routes a little further inland: from Carlisle into Hadrian’s Wall Country, and across to Alston and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Although initially aimed at motorhome and campervan owners, we are now encouraging an even wider range of visitors – including train travellers – to make the most of the route.
Our collective ambition is to give the CCR 200 more of its own distinct identity and longevity, and the Year of the Coast 2023 is a fantastic time to do this!
CCR200 Business Toolkit
Cumbria Tourism has also helped to co-ordinate the creation of the CCR 200 Business Toolkit – new resources to help a range of operators on the route promote all the CCR 200 has to offer.
Camping and motorhome sites, local shops, attractions and food and drink providers are all welcome to access the new imagery, logos, social media content and other background information.
Vanlife
Working with our local authority partners across the county, Cumbria Tourism has developed a dedicated Vanlife section on www.visitlakedistrict.com to not only ensure motorhome and campervan users have the best possible experience in the Lake District, Cumbria, but to keep this unique place special for all.
Vanlife includes a Motorcaravanners’ Code of Conduct explaining what to and what not to do when visiting, as well as maps showing which roads are suitable for larger vehicles and details of campsites and waste disposal opportunities throughout Cumbria.
