Year of the Coast 2023
Get involved in Year of the Coast 2023, a new awareness campaign showcasing the very best of our coastal assets to inspire more visitors to love, visit and protect our coastline!
Cumbria Tourism is working with the National Coastal Tourism Academy (NCTA) and England’s Coast – along with other destinations – to create a year-long calendar of events and activities to shine a spotlight on our coastal heritage and give visitors a chance to discover new, less-explored areas.
From Morecambe Bay to the Scottish Borders, we will be highlighting festivals, sports events, food markets, art trails, sustainable experiences, volunteering opportunities and much more. All aimed at encouraging visitors to explore more than 120 miles of Cumbria’s epic coastline.
There will also be a range of new sample itineraries, telling stories of coastal life through blogs, articles and imagery, and encouraging the public to share their experiences at the coast in real-time on social media.
