Cumbria Tourism is hitting the road in a new electric vehicle thanks to its long-standing partnership with Lloyd Motor Group – helping lead the charge toward more sustainable travel across the county.
The arrival of the fully electric BYD ATTO 3 marks the latest milestone in a successful partnership focused on championing low-carbon transport and showcasing real-world EV use in a rural county like Cumbria. As a new and fast-growing brand in the UK market, BYD is quickly gaining attention for its innovation and value, making this a timely opportunity to experience its potential first-hand.
As electric vehicles become more affordable and accessible, Cumbria Tourism is embracing this new opportunity to demonstrate how switching to cleaner, greener travel is not only possible, but practical, for both businesses and individuals.
Gill Haigh, Managing Director of Cumbria Tourism, says:
“It’s fantastic to continue building on our partnership with Lloyd Motor Group and get behind the wheel of the fully electric BYD ATTO 3. We’re proud to lead by example and show that low-carbon travel works for Cumbria. As EVs become more affordable, this is a real opportunity to encourage others to think differently about how they travel.”
Craig Kirkpatrick, Head of Marketing at Lloyd Motor Group, commented:
“Our partnership with Cumbria Tourism continues to showcase how electric vehicles can work for businesses right across the county. We’re particularly excited to be working with BYD, a new brand that has joined Lloyd Motor Group and is the world’s largest manufacturer of electric vehicles. With a growing range of electric models available through our brands, we’re committed to supporting more organisations on their sustainability journey. We’re looking forward to seeing how the Cumbria Tourism team gets on with the BYD ATTO 3 over the coming months.”
The vehicle is part of Cumbria Tourism’s wider efforts to reduce its own carbon footprint. Its Staveley headquarters features publicly accessible EV charging points for staff, tenants, and visitors, with solar panels due to be installed later this year to further reduce environmental impact. The organisation also operates a car-sharing policy to cut travel-related emissions.
While also supporting the ambitions set out in Cumbria’s Destination Management Plan to become one of the UK’s leading sustainable visitor destinations, Cumbria Tourism continues to work with partners, including local councils and Electricity North West, to strengthen the county’s EV infrastructure. As part of this work, it is also creating dedicated EV-friendly itineraries to help visitors travel more sustainably and demonstrate how exploring the county by electric vehicle can support Cumbria’s journey toward becoming a low-carbon destination of choice.
Cumbria Tourism will be sharing regular updates on where the BYD ATTO 3 is taking them over the coming months, as part of their day-to-day work supporting businesses and promoting the visitor economy across the county.
