Lake District Foundation
The Lake District Foundation inspires people to donate to projects that care for the spectacular wildlife, landscapes and cultural heritage of the Lake District and Cumbria.
The charity supports the delivery of the shared aims of the Lake District National Park Partnership as its main fundraising and grant making partner. This is achieved through innovative and successful fundraising campaigns locally, nationally and internationally.
The Lake District Foundation encourages partners to work together to ensure a coordinated approach to fundraising and income generation.
Working with businesses, stakeholders and visitors, the LDF looks to raise funds for a number of key projects including Fix the Fells.
The charity supports community schemes such as the planting of new hedges and trees, to funding butterfly and bee gardens and new wildflower meadows.
A major project in recent years is the Low Carbon Lake District Fund – which has seen 60% funding for projects that reduce the carbon footprint of businesses and community groups in the Lake District and Cumbria. More than £600k has been given to projects ranging from solar panels, electric car charging points, air source heat pumps, to low energy lighting at a factory.
The Foundation is a key player in the Love Windermere Partnership launched in summer 2022 with the aim of improving water quality at Windermere.
The Foundation currently works with over 200 businesses in Cumbria, all of whom are active fundraisers.
The LDF’s friendly team can help businesses to achieve fundraising goals.
Benefits of businesses working with the Foundation include:
