Consumers are increasingly influenced by the effects that their purchase decisions have on the environment. With this driving customer purchasing behaviour, businesses need to consider their own products, services and behaviour from both an environmental and sustainability perspective.
Effective marketing is core to the future success of any company’s eco-strategy. This online business-training programme will guide you in how to apply the 4P’s of Marketing to the challenges of developing successful marketing campaigns for sustainable products and businesses.
The online Eco Marketing business-training programme is built around a live interactive webinar session. Delegates will be expected to complete individual pre and post-webinar tasks and will have the opportunity to review the outcomes on a 1-2-1 basis with a seasoned practitioner. The objective is to assist delegates to identify their company’s core green credentials, develop marketing messages, understand the impact on pricing and distribution, and ultimately create a strong eco-value proposition.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), for eligible businesses, funds this programme and there will be no charge to your business. Places on this course will be limited to a maximum of 15 people, one person per company. Email addresses will be given to EBS so that they can email Workshop material to delegates one week before the webinar date to give time to complete the preparatory session.

PART 1: Knowledge Transfer
Preparatory Session (1 hr individual task work)
Preparing a summary of current eco-aspirations, identifying key marketing issues and challenges (templates and worksheets provided).
Eco Marketing Webinar 9.00 am to 13.30pm (4½ hrs direct delivery)
A live webinar session, where interactive questioning is encouraged, comprising three 45-minute elements of knowledge transfer, 10-minute case studies with short breaks.
Post session Q&A (½ hr direct delivery)
PART 2: Application and mentoring
Post Session Element 1 (4 hrs individual task work)
Identify one core green credential your company could add to its product/offering. Using the MOTIF worksheet (market, offering, team, IP, finance) and secondary market research, delegates to answer nuanced pointed MOTIF questions designed to elicit real understanding of target market and customer requirements.
Post Session Element 2 (½ hr individual task work)
Using ‘Customer discovery Exercise’ develop core marketing message for chosen ‘green’ credential
Post Session Element 3 (½ hr individual task work)
Considering Impact of ‘green’ credential on company’s pricing and distribution channels.
Post Session Element 4 (1 hr individual task work)
Creating the Value proposition for ‘green’ credential
Post session review (29 October – 1 hr direct delivery)
There will be an opportunity for delegates to book a 55-minute teleconference session with EBS to answer specific questions on post session work. On the day, there will be a number (tbc) of time slots to choose. Depending on the number taking up a time slot, the session will comprise a small delegate group and will provide the opportunity for interaction and hearing other people’s questions.
TOTAL TIME 13.00 HOURS (7 hrs individual task work; 6 hrs direct delivery)
Who is eligible to attend?
This workshop is funded by the ERDF. It is open to small and medium sized businesses in Cumbria that meet ERDF eligibility criteria including:
- Less than 250 FTE employees
- Turnover less than 50m euros or balance sheet total less than 43m euros.
- Primary focus is Business to Business (B2B) and may exclude Business to Consumer (B2C) retail activity; check if in doubt.
- Certain sectors excluded e.g. nuclear and agriculture.
