Cumbria Tourism has won its third high-profile accolade in three months, after being named as the winner of the ‘Flying the Flag for Cumbria’ award at last night’s in-Cumbria Business Awards.
The results were revealed at a ceremony at The Halston in Carlisle, where finalists gathered to celebrate the very best of Cumbrian businesses.
The ‘Flying the Flag for Cumbria’ award is aimed at celebrating businesses that have put Cumbria firmly on the map, with Cumbria Tourism being recognised for promoting the county as a world class visitor destination for all – regionally, nationally, and internationally.
From high-profile marketing campaigns and in-depth research, to lobbying and business support, Cumbria Tourism was recently accredited as an official ‘Local Visitor Economy Partnership’ by VisitEngland and supports 4,500 member businesses across the county.
The latest success at the in-Cumbria Business Awards completes a trio of wins for the Cumbria Tourism team in the last three months, after taking home the ‘Best Response to Change’ award at last month’s Prolific North Awards, as well as the ‘Best Organic Social Media Campaign’ at the recent Simpleview Europe Awards.
Cumbria Tourism’s Managing Director, Gill Haigh says “We are truly humbled and immensely proud to receive the Flying the Flag for Cumbria award! This is huge recognition for the hard work and dedication of the Cumbria Tourism team, and coming from the county we serve makes it extra special.
“This award is as much for our Board, Strategic Partners – and crucially our member businesses – as it is for the team, whose ongoing support enables us to represent the tourism industry here in Cumbria at the highest level. As we head towards Cumbria Tourism’s milestone 50th anniversary year in 2024, it is a proud moment for us all!”
In addition to Cumbria Tourism’s win, it was also a successful night for Cumbria Tourism members Park Cliffe Camping & Caravan Estate, who scooped two awards. CT Strategic Partner The Cumberland also took home a trophy. Meanwhile, John Dunning CBE was awarded the ‘Robin Burgess Lifetime Contribution to Cumbria’ Award.
