The Lake District, Cumbria Holiday Guide Photo Competition Ts&Cs
1. The winner of this competition will have their image featured as the front cover for the annual Lake District, Cumbria Holiday Guide 2021.
2. The photograph entered must be of Cumbria.
3. The theme of the picture is open to interpretation, but we are looking for beautiful photographs that show off the spirit and beauty of Cumbria.
4. Cumbria Tourism is aware that digital photography does allow for enhancements.
The following enhancements are permitted:
• Removing spots, blemishes, or scratches.
• Editing the colour for the sake of composition.
• Cropping the image.
We cannot accept composite images (entries that have multiple photographs stitched together). The aim is to stay true to the natural beauty of Cumbria so please avoid heavy editing where possible.
5. Entrants from all over the world are welcome, but the photo must be taken within Cumbria.
6. Entrants must not be professional photographers. For the purposes of this competition, a professional photographer will be considered someone for whom 50% or more of their annual income comes from the sale of their photography.
7. Please ensure when entering your image that you give a correct email address and contact name, in case we need to get in touch.
8. To be suitable for print, the winning photograph must be able to be supplied in the following format:
• Portrait Orientation
• JPEG, PDF or TIFF
• High resolution
• 300 DPI
9. The competition closes at midnight on Sunday 8th November
10. Photographs will be judged on the following criteria:
• Composition
• Originality
• Public Appeal
• Suitability to be featured as the front cover of the Cumbria Tourism 2021 Holiday Guide
11. The photographs will be judged through the following process:
Stage One
All entries received up until the stated closing date will be filed and judged by Cumbria Tourism & the team working to produce the 2021 holiday guide. From this initial process, up to 6 images are taken forward for public vote.
Stage Two:
The shortlisted images will be uploaded to visitlakedistrict.com for a public vote, taking place for a period of 2 weeks, with visitors casting a vote for their favourite image. At the end of the 2-week period, the overall winner will be the image that receives the most votes in the public vote.
12. By entering the competition all entrants grant Cumbria Tourism and their members the right to publish and exhibit their photographs on their websites, marketing materials and any other documentation they see fit. While every effort will be made to credit photographers, including printed publications, we cannot guarantee that every use of the image will include the photographers’ name.
13. Cumbria Tourism reserves the right to cancel this competition or amend any terms and conditions at any time without warning.
14. If the winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts, the runner-up’s image will be used.
