Gill Haigh MD of Cumbria Tourism launches new 50th Anniversary Cumbrian Gold beer

A new beer handcrafted in the Lake District by Hawkshead Brewery has been launched to help celebrate Cumbria Tourism’s 50th anniversary and raise money for its new charitable fund.

Cumbria Tourism is marking five decades supporting the county’s world-class tourism industry in 2024 and has teamed up with the Staveley-based brewery to create the special anniversary-themed ‘Cumbrian Gold’.

10p from every 330ml bottle of the new ‘golden’ lager sold will go towards Cumbria Tourism’s 50th Anniversary Fund. Administered by Cumbria Community Foundation, the recently-launched endowment fund will help kickstart people’s careers in tourism and hospitality by providing financial support for specialist equipment, training, study materials, travel costs and more. These can be purchased online (www.hawksheadbrewery.co.uk) or at The Beer Hall in Staveley.

Cask and kegs of ‘Cumbrian Gold’ are now also available for the hospitality sector, enabling tourism businesses to offer their customers the celebratory tipple and throw their weight behind the fundraising effort too.
