Huge digital screens and posters across the North of England, the Midlands and London are set to feature inspirational images of the Lake District, Cumbria, with the launch of Cumbria Tourism’s latest high-profile marketing campaign.
Stunning images of the county will take centre-stage at train stations from London Euston to Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Leeds City and many more in the run-up to Easter. There will be 80 poster sites and five imposing digital screens helping put Cumbria on the map and inspire future visits – all backed up by a major social media presence to help reach audiences at key transport hubs used by many thousands of people each day.
It’s just the start of Cumbria Tourism’s five-month ‘Let’s Go’ campaign which will include extensive destination PR, itineraries, competitions/prize draws and digital promotion throughout the Spring and Summer months. It coincides with the ‘Let’s Go’ car free campaign, working with Avanti West Coast. Northern and TransPennine Express.
Cumbria’s official Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) is also developing a new film to showcase Carlisle and the north of the county, alongside its flagship dog-friendly guide and a new ‘bedroom browser’ which is available for free to accommodation providers wanting to inspire their guests about days out during their stay. Meanwhile, Cumbria Tourism’s online media library also continues to expand and now has around 15,000 images for member businesses to use in their own marketing.
At the same time, the Cumbria Tourism team will be out in force at a series of the best and most attended country shows over the coming months, including: the Northumberland Show, the Great Yorkshire Show, the Royal Lancashire and more. With a potential combined audience of 300,000+ people, these are great opportunities to speak directly to potential visitors and inspire future trips to the Lake District, Cumbria.
Cumbria Tourism’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Sue Clarke, says: “From our two World Heritage Sites and three National Landscapes to a stunning coastline, an historic city brimming with history and countless hidden gems, we’re determined to keep our world-class destination at the forefront of people’s minds when they’re planning their next holiday!
“The ‘Let’s Go’ campaign is fundamentally designed to boost consumer interaction, drive bookings and encourage people to stay longer. Crucially, everything we’re doing is based on in-depth research about who our visitors are and where they are coming from, so we’ve been really strategic about how we target our efforts on behalf of businesses.
“There are also plenty of ways for our member businesses to get directly involved and benefit from a wide range of free promotion and resources. We know it’s tough out there for tourism operators, but we’re here to support local jobs and communities by keeping Cumbria on the map amid stiff competition from other destinations both nationally and internationally.”
