Description
The Cumbria Visitor Survey is a vital part of Cumbria Tourism’s research work and is the only in-depth source of county-wide information on our visitors – revealing where they come from, who they are with, why they come and what they do while they are here, as well as identifying trends and changes in visitor behaviour. The 2022 research is the first face-to-face research conducted since 2018 providing vital up-to-date information on our 40m+ visitors.
Carried out in conjunction with Cumbria Tourism’s seven local authority partners and the Lake District National Park Authority the survey involved the completion of 2,010 in-depth, face-to-face surveys at over 60 locations across the county from May to October 2022. A wide variety of questions ranged from how much they spend, to how they sourced and booked their accommodation, as well as profile information on origin, party size and composition, motivations to visit and activities undertaken while here.
The full report contains almost 100 pages, with data broken down by location (local authority district, inside/outside the Lake District National Park), and visitor type (day/staying, repeat/first time) as well as by type of accommodation used. Comparisons are also made with previous research carried out in 2012, 2015 and 2018.
