Refurbished Medieval Banquet Hall to host Christmas Market
Visitors to this December’s traditional Christmas Market at Askham Hall will be among the first to take a sneak peek at the grade I hideaway’s newly refurbished medieval ‘banquet hall’ – which has never been seen by the public before.
Dating back to the 1500s, it still has many original features intact, including a large medieval fireplace and traditional low hanging beams. More recently it was used by the Lowther family as a games room, but has just undergone a makeover for special events and celebrations.
The revamped banquet hall will be just one of the locations at Askham Hall & Gardens to come alive with the sights and sounds of a traditional Christmas Market on Sunday 6 December 2015 (11am-4pm).
Around 45 stalls will be taking residence in the grounds near Penrith, selling an array of festive produce, crafts and giftware from local Cumbrian businesses and suppliers.
Askham Hall Café will be also open for traditional winter warmers including mulled wine and mince pies throughout the day. Meanwhile, Father Christmas will be on hand to meet the children in his special Christmas Grotto, with all proceeds going to selected local charities.
There is free parking and free entry to the Christmas market. For further details, contact: 01931 712350 / email@example.com
