The Cumbria Tourism Awards celebrate the best Cumbria has to offer and are now in their 15th year. Cumbria’s tourism businesses, and the talented individuals behind them, drive a visitor economy worth over £2.44 billion and service our 43 million annual visitors. Their achievements, hard work and dedication are worthy of recognition.

Cumbria offers ever increasing levels of quality and service to our visitors, and the Cumbria Tourism Awards recognise those businesses offering excellence and innovation in their product, service, welcome, marketing and sustainable practices.

Winners for the majority of categories from the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2017 will go on to represent the county at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence in 2018. New Tourism Business Award and Wedding Venue of the Year are run at a Cumbria level only.

Cumbria has seen a great deal of success at national level over the years, resulting in fantastic media promotion for the winning businesses and the Lake District, Cumbria as a quality visitor destination.

This year there are 17 award categories which celebrate the huge range and diversity of Cumbria’s tourism industry.

Nominate your Favourite Tourism Business!
Have you had a really incredible tourism experience in Cumbria recently or received exceptional service from a business that you feel deserves special recognition?  We are giving you the chance to nominate a business. Please email your suggestion to nominations@cumbriaawards.co.uk and we will contact them to encourage them to apply. Please provide their Business name, location and which category you think they would fall in to.

How to Enter

There are 17 award categories to suit Cumbria’s vast and diverse range of tourism businesses.

The winning businesses have to demonstrate excellence and innovation throughout their business. Including their product, welcome, service, marketing and sustainable practices. The Sheila Hensman Award recognises the outstanding contribution to customer service and extraordinary support service offered behind the scenes by an individual employee, team or business owner.

The entry forms can be saved as a word document and returned by email to awards@cumbriatourism.org or postal entries (in triplicate) can be returned to Cumbria Tourism. The awards are open to all Cumbria Tourism members and are free to enter, however most finalists will be required to pay for a mystery shopping visit or judging validation visit. These costs are detailed on the individual entry forms.

Closing date for all entries is Thursday 23rd March 2017.
