In this, our 34th year of the Hunter Davies Lakeland Book of the Year Awards we are delighted and proud to be able to continue our partnership with James Cropper of Burneside.
Whether formally acknowledged or not, virtually all of the hard-back books entered in these awards will be printed on James Cropper paper, so this association is both apt and appropriate and we are enormously grateful to both Sir James Cropper and Mark, his son, for continuing their support for us. It is a great honour to be associated with such an iconic Cumbrian business.
We continue to encourage and celebrate writing and publishing in Cumbria, and hope that we enhance the longstanding literary heritage of our County. These awards enrich the cultural profile of Cumbria and have raised thousands of pounds in funding for worthy charities with Cumbrian connections.
Thank you to our Awards Sponsors whose support is so much appreciated:

The Bill Rollinson Award Association
The great value of books for the mind and spirit of humanity cannot be overestimated. Those who sponsor The Bill Rollinson Award wish to perpetuate the memory of his love of books and his inspiration for others to find out and be enthused about his beloved Cumbria. The Lakeland Book of the Year Awards provide the most fitting memorial to him.
Striding Edge is a family business established in 1994 and based in the Wasdale valley in the English Lake District. For twenty four years Striding Edge Productions has been providing the very best hill walking programmes. It started with Wainwright. Eric Robson, one of the directors of the company, was Wainwright’s walking companion in the classic television series. Striding Edge offers a wide range of outdoor DVDs books and maps and is now the biggest supplier of fell walking titles in the country. Eric also gives his time freely to these awards as one of our Judges.
We are also very grateful to the support provided by the Cumbria Community Foundation.
