Communications Executive – Cumbria Tourism

Salary: £24,000 – £25,000pa, depending on experience. (Full time, however part-time hours would be considered for the right candidate).

We are on the lookout for a talented communications star who can immerse themself in our busy, dynamic team and help take our tourism businesses to the next level. You will have extensive professional PR experience and media contacts, along with a broader base of marketing and digital know-how.

You will provide strategic, practical and trusted communications support for one of the most highly respected destination marketing organisations in the UK, based in the heart of the Lake District World Heritage site. You’ll also be directly responsible for raising the national media profile of some of the county’s most successful tourism businesses.

Your attitude will be ‘can-do’, your approach hands-on. You’ll also be super organised with a proven ability to work flexibly and independently to turn ideas into action, as well as a confident team player who can actively engage and inspire a wide range of audiences. It goes without saying that you’ll have top-notch copywriting skills and a sparkling attention to detail.

Marketing and Operations Officer – Morecambe Bay Partnership

We are looking for a new Marketing and Operations officer to be part of the Coastal Communities team. Leading on the marketing for a programme of exciting new projects, aimed at increasing the number of visitors coming to Morecambe Bay through developing walking, cycling and new visitor experiences.

We need someone with experience of developing and delivering a vibrant marketing plan, creating inspiring content, managing designers, with copywriting skills and an ability to maintain brand identity across the programme. Alongside this, part of this role is helping manage the operational aspect of the programme. Supporting the team leader with writing papers, collating evidence of success and reporting to the funders.

Mail Order / E-commerce Assistant – Grasmere Gingerbread

Now in its 166th year, this unique, award winning fourth-generation family business wishes to recruit an exciting new position to work as part of a small team in our busy sales/marketing administration department.

To report directly to the Mail Order Manager and provide a first-class customer service by the efficient daily dispatch of products from start to finish; receive orders, administer, process, pick, pack and dispatch domestically and internationally.

  • Communicate internally and externally through all channels; telephone, emails, and web.
  • Administration of all systems both electronically and written; web system orders, excel, courier software, packing lists, labelling, customs’ procedures and internal filing. Web updates, email marketing, database management.
  • Stock control of all products for mail order section through internal sourcing and quality control. All areas kept clean and tidy.
  • Pack all parcels, picking list, implementation through correct care and attention to meet company standards for high quality delivery to customers.
  • Deal with customer orders and queries; provide a friendly, supportive, informative and efficient service for varied customer needs from start to finish through all channels.

37.5 hours/week at £12.00 per hour + benefits.

Live-In Couple – Yewfield Vegetarian Guest House

We are looking for an enthusiastic couple to help us run Yewfield vegetarian guest house and self-catering apartments, full time from March 2021.

Yewfield is a peaceful retreat set in 80 acres of ground in the heart of the English Lake District. It is ideally situated for walking and enjoying this exquisite region of rare natural beauty. Yewfield offers vegetarian bed & breakfast and luxury self-catering accommodation for non-smokers. With its stylish rooms, stunning views and peaceful ambience, Yewfield has been awarded a Visit Britain Quality in Tourism Rating of 5 Stars and ROSE 2017 award.

Your daily tasks would include cooking breakfast or waiting on and help in the kitchen in the mornings, housekeeping duties and general cleaning of the house, meeting and greeting guests in the afternoons, basic reception duties as well as occasional evening work when we host yoga retreats or concerts. Previous experience in hospitality and catering is essential and knowledge in vegetarian cooking is a plus.

The working week would be based over 5 days with 2 day off, working weekends and some evenings. You would be doing around 36 hours a week.

You would be staying in an en-suite bedroom on the premises. Breakfast is included and you can use the kitchen throughout the day to prepare your meals. Yewfield is fully vegetarian, therefore no meat or fish is allowed on the premises. It is also a non-smoking bed & breakfast.

Applicants are required to have a good spoken and written English, good communication skills, look smart and presentable, have a great attention to detail and ability to work in a busy environment. Previous experience in a similar position is a plus.

Volunteer Gallery Engager – Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery

This is a volunteer position with no remuneration.

Are you passionate about history, art or nature? Are you keen to give some of your time to support a cherished local charity?
The museum is looking to recruiting a new team of Volunteer Gallery Engagers to help bring our spaces and collections to life.

As a Volunteer Gallery Engager, you will provide our visitors with a warm welcome, help them get the most out of their visit and be part of keeping our spaces and collections safe and secure. The Tullie House galleries are large and spacious – volunteering with us is a fantastic way to make a difference to your community in a socially distanced environment.

As a charity, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery continues to be a popular, ambitious and successful regional museum in Carlisle, with a forward-thinking manifesto and internationally important collections. The museum has been an independent charitable Trust since 2011, it leads the Cumbria Museum Consortium (an Arts Council England funded National Portfolio Organisation) and has a range of impressive partners including the British Museum and the Universities of Cumbria and Lancaster.

Tullie House has a collection of over half a million objects, from internationally significant finds from Hadrian’s Wall to a major collection of pre-Raphaelite artwork. Our collections tell the unique story of Carlisle as a Border City, from Reivers to Railways and beyond. Our natural science collection has been Designated by Arts Council England, which makes it of national significance – it represents the amazing flora and fauna of Cumbria, the most biodiverse county in England.

Front of House – Merewood Country House Hotel

We are looking for a full time Front of House Assistant to join our award-winning team. The ideal candidate will be hard working, outgoing, friendly, reliable and someone who gets a real buzz out of looking after our guests.

Apprenticeship Management Trainee – Gilpin Hotel & Lake House

The Gilpin Hotel & Lake House are looking for an Apprentice Management Trainee to join our family and team.

Based in Windermere with two luxury country houses on two separate estates in the beautiful Lake District. We are a family-run 5 star hotel in the Lake District with a great team and a friendly environment.

The Apprentice Management Trainee will work closely with the heads of departments allowing you to experience different areas of the business in order to gain knowledge and experience in many departments throughout the organisation.

The successful candidate will also attend University of Cumbria in Ambleside for one day a week to complete the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship programme over a three-year period and carry out a workplace learning to gain a degree apprenticeship. Management Trainees will enjoy real responsibility and career progression, with plenty of opportunity to grow and develop. Successful completion of the apprenticeship will lead to a BA (Hons) in Applied Business.

Candidates could have good customer service skills, strong organisation and good written skills to enable them to accurately prepare documents and schedules. Shortlisted candidates should be able to demonstrate L3 learning and preferably have GCSE Maths and English at C or above.
