Fix the Fells Ranger – Lake District National Park Authority

Have you got experience of upland path repair and maintenance and coordinating contractors, volunteers and staff to deliver practical work? If so we would love to hear from you. This exciting role involves coordinating and overseeing an ambitious upland path maintenance programme in the Lake District National Park, Fix the Fells, to improve and prevent deterioration of key routes in the national park.

Shop and Information Supervisor – Lake District National Park Authority

You will supervise when required and deliver Brockhole’s reception, box office and visitor information service ensuring the delivery of world class service at all times and ensuring proactive selling of Brockhole activities, events and facilities. You will deputise for the Shop and Information Manager in their absence, supervising staff and the opening and closing of the shop and information centre.

Coffee Specialist – Another Place,The Lake

Ready for the next step in your food and drink career?

We need an experienced barista on our front of house team, to turn a busy 2020 into a stellar 2021.

We won’t need to tell you how to hold your tray, or how a few extra words at the right time can make a guest’s day. And you won’t hold back coming to us with new ideas for our coffee. You will notice when a guest needs something, and you will be able to determine their coffee interests and needs and know exactly what to recommend.

Your confidence and commitment will shine through in the way you work, and your enthusiasm for coffee will make people’s days brighter.

In your first 90 days, your time will be spent across the two restaurants to get a sense for how we work across fast casual and full table service settings. From here you’ll get a chance to change it up regularly and work in each restaurant on rotation.

The people we’re looking for know that a great coffee is about more than what is in the cup. They are experienced, committed, talented and passionate about making sure guests leave happy.

They also have:

  • 2 years’ experience working in food and drink in a similar position
  • A commitment to consistently high levels of service and a passion for the industry
  • Confidence in using and applying technology in your day to day role
  • A willingness to work as a team player, a keen eye for detail and an eagerness to share information and skills that will improve service
  • An ability to communicate well and work seamlessly with colleagues from all departments
  • Records of formal inhouse/external training in coffee, mixology, food, wine and management/supervision (you don’t need to have all of the list mentioned, just some)

Front of House – Merewood Country House Hotel

We are looking for a full time Front of House Assistant to join our award-winning team. The ideal candidate will be hard working, outgoing, friendly, reliable and someone who gets a real buzz out of looking after our guests.

As a Commis Chef you will be part of a team producing high quality food for our two restaurants, ‘Arboreal’ and ‘The Grill’. Arboreal holds two AA rosettes and is award winning, attaining Cumbria Tourism’s 2019 Taste Award.

Apprenticeship Management Trainee – Gilpin Hotel & Lake House

The Gilpin Hotel & Lake House are looking for an Apprentice Management Trainee to join our family and team.

Based in Windermere with two luxury country houses on two separate estates in the beautiful Lake District. We are a family-run 5 star hotel in the Lake District with a great team and a friendly environment.

The Apprentice Management Trainee will work closely with the heads of departments allowing you to experience different areas of the business in order to gain knowledge and experience in many departments throughout the organisation.

The successful candidate will also attend University of Cumbria in Ambleside for one day a week to complete the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship programme over a three-year period and carry out a workplace learning to gain a degree apprenticeship. Management Trainees will enjoy real responsibility and career progression, with plenty of opportunity to grow and develop. Successful completion of the apprenticeship will lead to a BA (Hons) in Applied Business.

Candidates could have good customer service skills, strong organisation and good written skills to enable them to accurately prepare documents and schedules. Shortlisted candidates should be able to demonstrate L3 learning and preferably have GCSE Maths and English at C or above.
