Housekeeping Manager – Howgills Accommodation, Sedbergh

Are you experienced in housekeeping management and looking for an opportunity to drive a business forward?

Howgills Accommodation is a small and dynamic business that has expanded over the last 15 years. We’re looking for a self motivated and energetic Housekeeping Manager that will support the running of our properties. We’re based in the beautiful market town of Sedbergh and we own and manage 3 large accommodation properties; Howgills Barn, Howgills Apartments and Howgills House.

Hadrian’s Wall Partnership is looking to appoint an exceptional Marketing and Communications Coordinator to manage a complex, year-long marketing, press and digital campaign for Hadrian’s Wall 1900.

The Coordinator will be an integral part of the Hadrian’s Wall 1900 Project Team managing and overseeing all marketing and communications activity in relation to the Festival and working closely with Partners and Activity Organisers to ensure that their events are promoted via the Festival’s marketing strategy.

A key ambition of the Festival is to shine a spotlight on Hadrian’s Wall as a visitor destination throughout 2022, so it is expected that the Coordinator will seek opportunities for national press and media surrounding key programmed elements, as well as Hadrian’s Wall’s regular visitor offer.

Apprenticeship Management Trainee – Gilpin Hotel & Lake House

The Gilpin Hotel & Lake House are looking for an Apprentice Management Trainee to join our family and team.

Based in Windermere with two luxury country houses on two separate estates in the beautiful Lake District. We are a family-run 5 star hotel in the Lake District with a great team and a friendly environment.

The Apprentice Management Trainee will work closely with the heads of departments allowing you to experience different areas of the business in order to gain knowledge and experience in many departments throughout the organisation.

The successful candidate will also attend University of Cumbria in Ambleside for one day a week to complete the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship programme over a three-year period and carry out a workplace learning to gain a degree apprenticeship. Management Trainees will enjoy real responsibility and career progression, with plenty of opportunity to grow and develop. Successful completion of the apprenticeship will lead to a BA (Hons) in Applied Business.

Candidates could have good customer service skills, strong organisation and good written skills to enable them to accurately prepare documents and schedules. Shortlisted candidates should be able to demonstrate L3 learning and preferably have GCSE Maths and English at C or above.

Assistant Fitness and Leisure Club Manager – Langdale Estate

The Langdale Estate is set in 35 acres of woodland & waterways in the heart of the Lake District. The Estate comprises a 56 bedroom hotel, Brimstone – a 16 bedroom boutique hotel, 100 timeshare units, Wainwrights Inn, Stove Restaurant and Bar and Brimstone Spa.

This position is to provide support on a daily basis to the Fitness, Leisure & Spa Manager, who is responsible for the day to day operation of the leisure club, pool, gym and brimstone spa. Primarily based in the Leisure Club, the successful candidate will be expected at times to assist with the running of the spa. The work is therefore very varied. This role would possibly suit somebody with a strong leisure background who is looking to step into their first management role.

Essential requirements:

  • Strong people management skills
  • Knowledge of pool operations including pool plant
  • Leadership capability – able to lead from the front and delegate effectively
  • Plate spinner and problem solver. Well organised and structured in approach.
  • Experience in a similar role

You must provide first class customer service and should be highly organised with good communication skills. This position requires an understanding of working in a leisure club and an understanding of supervising / managing a team. The ability to build rapport with both staff and customers is needed as well as a dynamic, ‘can do’ attitude. It is likely that you will have a passion for fitness, possibly with gym-based qualifications. An understanding of beauty therapy and running of a Spa would be an advantage.

You will assist with staff planning, training, motivating and all other day to day aspects of the department.

We are looking for a strong Commis Chef/Chef de Partie with practical knowledge of fresh food preparation and experience of a fast-paced gastro pub environment.

You will need to be organised, have a lot of stamina, be able to learn on your feet and be passionate about food because cooking in a high-pressure kitchen is hard work. You will be required to keep a cool head and maintain high standards at busy times. You will also need to be versatile, because it is important that you gain experience in all sections of the kitchen.

Kitchen Porter – Another Place, The Lake

Location: Watermillock

Employment: Permanent

Pay: £9.10 per hour /£21,294 per year (45 hours)

We have a fantastic opportunity for a kitchen porter to join the team at Another Place, The Lake. Successful candidates will need to ensure that the kitchen, its equipment and ancillary areas are kept clean, tidy and free from obstruction. You also need to ensure that refuse bags and rubbish are promptly removed and replaced as necessary.

What you’ll do

– Ensure the cleaning, as required by the head chef, of all kitchen equipment, utensils, floor and working surfaces in the kitchen and adjacent areas is carried out to company standards
– To carry out other duties as required by the head chef
– To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and personal hygiene to the standard required by the hotel and by law
– Any defects in equipment to be reported to the head chef
– Ensure full refuse bags are removed and replaced promptly, and that full swing bins are removed and replaced immediately, clearing any spillages
– The floor area must be cleaned daily or at the chef’s discretion
– To be fully aware of the fire precautions in the kitchen area and the whereabouts and operation of the extinguishers
– Wash crockery, cutlery and ensure that work surfaces are clean and tidy
– To sweep and clean the corridors and passageways through the kitchen
– To clean all pots in the pot wash area, and to maintain cleanliness of the area
– Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and cleanliness whilst in the work place
– Maintain an organised, clean and safe work place, not only for yourself but also for those around
– To correctly record all waste in the appropriate method. No member of staff is to remove any item without first checking with a supervisor and completing the kitchen wastage book

Fundraising Officer – Lakeland Arts

Purpose

In this role you’ll support Lakeland Arts to carry out our charitable objectives by contributing to the delivery of our fundraising strategy to support our programme of exhibitions, participation activities and art and heritage conservation projects. With a particular focus on individual and legacy giving, you’ll help us realise opportunities to grow our voluntary income. You’ll also support grant funding applications to statutory funders and trusts and foundations. In this varied role you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of an individual giving and legacy giving strategy to sustain support from existing donors and increase donations year on year.
  • Support the cultivation of new prospective private donors and help maintain and develop relationships with current donors and supporters through the highest levels of care and stewardship.
  • Support the formation of a new Development Committee working with the Lakeland Arts Board of Trustees.
  • Develop and coordinate a programme of supporter events for Lakeland Arts’ supporters.
  • Work with colleagues to support, service and develop the Lakeland Arts membership scheme.
  • Produce high quality funding applications, proposals and reports for a range of funders including trusts and foundations, statutory and Lottery funders, individual donors and corporate sponsors.
  • Develop and maintain robust fundraising systems and processes.
  • Maintain records, develop projections and produce high-quality reports on activity and achievements against Lakeland Arts’ fundraising targets.
  • Contribute to Lakeland Arts’ stakeholder events and other activities to promote Lakeland Arts and involve local communities, visitors and key stakeholders.
