Cumbria Community Foundation
Cumbria Community Foundation exists to build on the county’s strong history of community. People working together to face challenges. Living in Cumbria has some serious upsides. It can also be tough. Really tough. The beautiful landscape hides intense poverty and lack of opportunity. Two things that fuel each other.
Since 1999, we’ve been bringing together people who love Cumbria to make our county stronger so that local people can meet the challenges they face and achieve their potential.
We’re grant making experts with a deep understanding of Cumbria. Over the years, with the help of our supporters, we have raised and given out almost £60 million to more than 4,000 voluntary and community organisations who deliver services on the ground, here in Cumbria.
Whether you’re an individual or a business who wants to make a difference in your community, we offer a range of options to maximise your giving.
The Foundation is proud to be a Strategic Partner of Cumbria Tourism, as we both want the same thing. A Cumbria that thrives. A sustainable Cumbria with strong and capable communities. A Cumbria that can welcome visitors while ensuring that the people who live here are strong and supported.
We recognise the importance of tourism to the future success of Cumbria’s communities, and we welcome businesses in the tourism sector as fundholders and members of the Foundation.
Cumbria Community Foundation is always happy to talk to businesses and individuals about how we can help manage their charitable giving in a considered, tax efficient, and effective way. Any giving that we manage is used to help Cumbria’s communities thrive. We keep your giving local.
We operate over 100 funds that give out grants for different needs in our county. We can direct you to a fund that you can contribute to such as our Cumbria Home from Home Fund which provides an easy way for holiday home owners and other tourism sector businesses to give back to local communities.
Or we can help you set up a fund of your own so you can help decide where your money is spent.
And in times of need, we can connect businesses and staff to local charities that may be able to help them. Or we can help a community group they are connected with to apply for one of our grants.
