Electricity North West

Electricity North West is one of 14 distribution network operators in the UK regulated by Ofgem and the majority of electricity enters our network from the National Grid.

We are responsible for maintaining and upgrading 13,000 km of overhead power lines and more than 44,000 km of underground electricity cables and much more. This covers the diverse communities between the beautiful Lake District landscapes to the bustling city of Manchester and all the towns and villages located in-between.

Our network in the North West is one of the most reliable in the country and we are investing £1.9bn by 2023 to ensure we continue to deliver an excellent, safe and affordable service to all our customers.

Helping Cumbria’s multi-billion pound tourism industry embrace Net Zero is one of the key priorities for the Strategic Partnership between Electricity North West and Cumbria Tourism, helping support and signpost new ways for tourism businesses to identify leaner, greener ways of working.

The partnership builds on previous joint working, including a recent project to engage with small tourism operators wanting to provide Electric Vehicle (EV) charging for their visitors.

This saw Electricity North West launch a scheme to fund power network upgrade work for around 100 sites across the county.

We will continue to work together on joint opportunities to support to tourism operators looking to make the move to more sustainable ways of working.
