Rail Trails

A series of new ‘Rail Trails’ has been created to help inspire visitors to leave the car behind and explore our county’s hidden coastal gems by train. All the routes are accessed from the Cumbrian Coastal line, with easy train connections through from Manchester, Lancaster and Carnforth.

  1. Low Carbon Lake District: Grants Scheme

The Low Carbon Lake District initiative is helping organisations to introduce measures that reduce carbon emissions, including a Grant Scheme to make the move to low carbon technologies and practices more affordable.  It is available for a range of industry sectors, including hospitality. Round 3 of the Grants Scheme opens in early 2022. In the meantime, there are case studies available to help inspire future applications:
